ONE HUGE CABBAGE

Over the summer of 2008, Jon was commissioned to grow a cabbage from Bonnie Plants. This plant was given to him from his Elementary School and is part of a Bonnie Plants Third Grade summer project. Each "STATE" winner receives a $1000.00 scholarship I believe. Well, this summer it just so happened that Dad had planned a big garden in our small (in town) backyard. So, as it was, we planted the little cabbage plant and it was about 4 inches tall. Over the summer Jon worked on debugging and weeding and fertilizing (with a bit of help from Dad) to help the plant grow...and did it ever grow! We watched in amazement as the plant got bigger and bigger until it was time to harvest. As we had thought all along, we were to turn a picture of Jon's cabbage in the first day of school (his fourth grade year still 2008) along with the weight of the cabbage. We were happy to send the picture of the HUGE cabbage in along with a report of 30 lbs. Wow...30 lbs., that is a bunch of cabbage. Well, we waited and waited to find out what would become of Jon's results. The results unofficially came and it was said that Jon had won for the school! We were so happy. So we waited and waited to see (by checking the Bonnie Plants website) if they would ever post the winner of the State of Indiana. Well, we just found out today 01/31/2009 that Jon has WON the State of Indiana. We were getting very worried that all the hard work was going to waste because of the results being delayed so long. Well, anyway I would like to see some comments on this, but please just comment on Jon's cabbage as he will be looking for some uplifting encouragement. You can check a sideshow of Jon's cabbage out from this link: http://jkeesling.sytes.net but please be advised, this is our home server and it might or might not be running, so, if you get an error, just come back and try again after reporting it to me..Thanks.
