ONE HUGE CABBAGE

Over the summer of 2008, Jon was commissioned to grow a cabbage from Bonnie Plants. This plant was given to him from his Elementary School and is part of a Bonnie Plants Third Grade summer project. Each "STATE" winner receives a $1000.00 scholarship I believe. Well, this summer it just so happened that Dad had planned a big garden in our small (in town) backyard. So, as it was, we planted the little cabbage plant and it was about 4 inches tall. Over the summer Jon worked on debugging and weeding and fertilizing (with a bit of help from Dad) to help the plant grow...and did it ever grow! We watched in amazement as the plant got bigger and bigger until it was time to harvest. As we had thought all along, we were to turn a picture of Jon's cabbage in the first day of school (his fourth grade year still 2008) along with the weight of the cabbage. We were happy to send the picture of the HUGE cabbage in along with a report of 30 lbs. Wow...30 lbs., that is a bunch of cabbage. Well, we waited and waited to find out what would become of Jon's results. The results unofficially came and it was said that Jon had won for the school! We were so happy. So we waited and waited to see (by checking the Bonnie Plants website) if they would ever post the winner of the State of Indiana. Well, we just found out today 01/31/2009 that Jon has WON the State of Indiana. We were getting very worried that all the hard work was going to waste because of the results being delayed so long. Well, anyway I would like to see some comments on this, but please just comment on Jon's cabbage as he will be looking for some uplifting encouragement. You can check a sideshow of Jon's cabbage out from this link: http://jkeesling.sytes.net but please be advised, this is our home server and it might or might not be running, so, if you get an error, just come back and try again after reporting it to me..Thanks.

Preparing for Westminster Kennel Club Show

It all began when Rob obtained his 10Th Open Intermediate Class Win in June at the Valpo dog show (Valparaiso, IN). He was there with a pro-handler friend, Eileen Hackett. This was just a month prior to his Dad's accidental severe burn. He received his invitation in November and sent in his acceptance shortly after that. He is entered in both Junior showmanship and Breed. At the end of November, we made reservations to stay at the Hotel Pennsylvania, which is right across the street from the show site. The WKC show is held at Madison Square Garden on February 9Th and 10Th. My sister, Cherie, is greatly assisting us. We had planned that she would attend with Rob and I, but she is now unable to attend due to work obligations. She obtained round trip tickets for us on US Airways from Indianapolis to Newark, NJ. Rob is both excited and a little scared to fly, since it will be his first time. This last week, we took Baxter to the vet (GIBC club member- Rob Rich, DMV) to update his shots and obtain the required Health Certificate for him to travel to and from NYC. Baxter goes back to visit the vet this Friday to have his teeth cleaned. Smile pretty, Baxter. :-) He will be traveling with Eileen Hackett and Jenna Curtis (THANK YOU!!!). Rob and I will leave Indy on Sunday Morning at about 9 am and will arrive in Newark around 1pm. I am planning on posting about our trip, the show, and how all the GIBC representatives do at the show. I hope to get lots of pictures to post also. I know that several GIBC members have dogs that will be there and Rob will be the representative in Juniors. There are 4 juniors from Indiana who qualified (3 of them are from Central Indiana-Rob, Sarah McAtee with her Field Spaniel, and Audrey Carter with her Aussie) More info to come soon. :-)

Told ya so...

Well, this evening I became a member of the NRA (National Rifle Association). I have been messing around with guns all my life and I am now feeling threatened by the possibility of my guns being taken from me. This is a huge political problem in the US today and I for one won't stand by and just let the government and some wacko people impose laws and regulations on me in which I strongly disagree. So, with that said, I am now a member of the NRA!

Robs Race Car Project

Here is Robs Middle School Tech Class project. He made this car in his shop class, actually he said his teacher cut the car out due to the danger of cutting off fingers! Anyway we worked on it for three days, priming and sanding then painting then sanding and painting again and then....wheeew, clear coating it and then putting stickers on. Of course Rob had to put his favorite band name down the front between painting and clear coating. Rob found out that it hurts his fingers to push down on the paint nozzle! He did a great job and learned a little as well! We will see how it does at school, evidently, they are going to race their cars against each other. I guess there is an Open Design Champion which focuses on looks and then there is the Racing Champion which obviously would be the fastest car. I'll post in the comments section how well he did after tomorrow.

Welcome to Tim's NEW BLOG

Hello and welcome to my new blog page. Here (in future posts) you will find things that interest my friends, family and I. Watch out because political views might be expressed here as well. I appreciate each and every visit to my website so visit often to see updated content. Also coming soon is a story on my Son and Wife as they travel to New York City as my Son is showing his dog "Baxter" at the Westminster Dog Show at Madison Square Garden. They will also be reporting on some other members of our "Brittany" club who are showing there. This should be a very interesting blog so be sure to check it often.
